Sumo Group and its studios have been shortlisted at the 2024 TIGA Awards, with nominations for games including Still Wakes the Deep and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
Sumo Group has been shortlisted in the Education Initiative category for Evolve – a free career programme aimed at helping experienced game developers learn vital leadership skills which launched in April. Publisher Secret Mode is a finalist in both the Commitment to ESG and Best Publisher categories, and Sumo Digital is nominated for Best Large Studio and Best Co-Development Partner.
Sumo titles have received a plethora of nominations, including The Chinese Room and Secret Mode’s narrative-horror game, Still Wakes the Deep – which is up for Best Audio Design, Creativity in Games, Best Action and Adventure Game and the Heritage in Games Award. Sumo Nottingham and Gun Interactive’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is shortlisted for Best Visual Design, Best Social Game and Best Use of a License.
Also for Sumo Digital, the Sumo Digital Academy’s retro platformer, Oil Strike ’75, is shortlisted in both the Best Arcade Game and Heritage in Games Award categories, and Auroch Digital and Focus Entertainment’s Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is shortlisted for Action and Adventure Game.
Games published by Secret Mode are also finalists in a number of categories. Max Inferno’s cosy tidying puzzler A Little to the Left: Seeing Stars is up for Best Casual Game and Best Puzzle Game, chaos racer ICE Beam’s Make Way is nominated for Best Social Game and Best Arcade Game, and Moon Lagoon’s aquatic adventure Loddlenaut is in the running for Best Casual Game.
Run by TIGA – the network for games developers, digital publishers and the trade association representing the video games industry – the TIGA Awards showcase excellence in games development, service providers and education and are held annually to celebrate the achievements of studios and their teams.
The winners of the 2024 TIGA Awards will be revealed on Thursday 28th November at a ceremony held in London, and the full list of nominees can be found on the TIGA website.
