On the 20th of September, British Racing Greats will once again be bringing together car enthusiasts from across the UK games industry to celebrate racing game heritage and raise vital funds for SpecialEffect and Solving Kids’ Cancer UK.
For 2024, the event will take place at Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit in West Sussex, and attendees will be able to take part in high-speed passenger rides and a pit-stop challenge, whilst seeing racing-game-inspired cars take to the circuit for parades and demonstrations.
The event will also celebrate racing games developed in the UK over the last 30 years, and the paddocks will be full of memorabilia, merchandise and real-world cars from some of the greatest, including OutRun 2, Forza, Gran Turismo, Sonic Racing, F1 Clash and Need for Speed.
Darren Mills, Director of Excellence and Integration at Sumo Group, said: “I’m proud that Sumo is able to support this event which raises funds and awareness for two of our partner charities. Sumo’s heritage is steeped in racing games, and it’s fantastic to see some of the game industry’s most iconic titles helping to improve lives.”
British Racing Greats had its inaugural event in 2023, where it took over Donington Park Circuit and raised in excess of £100,000 for the two charities.
Tickets for British Racing Greats 2024 are available now via Eventbrite, and all funds raised go directly to SpecialEffect and Solving Kids’ Cancer UK. For more information about the event, visit the website.
