Sumo Group was proud to be a part of SpecialEffect’s annual fundraising campaign, One Special Day, earlier this month and helped to raise over £120,000 for the charity.
Held each year, One Special Day is a flagship fundraising event for SpecialEffect and sees the games industry come together to do good. The money raised during the event helps SpecialEffect bring magic gaming moments to physically disabled gamers worldwide, supports its specialist assessment teams to create bespoke control setups for hundreds of physically disabled gamers each year and aid the development of freely available accessibility resources and solutions for players and developers around the world.
Sumo’s support of the campaign included its annual One Button Game Jam – where anyone from Sumo’s global operations can create a game inspired by single input to then be played on a livestream for anyone to tune into. The stream culminated in a quiz hosted by Sumo Group’s Charity Partnerships Manager, Polly Ord, with prizes won by Sumo’s teams all over the country.

Elsewhere, individuals from across Sumo showed their support for the campaign, including Secret Mode’s PR & Communications Manager Matthew Pellett who bravely abseiled down the home ground of his beloved Liverpool FC, Sumo’s Leamington studios who got involved with One Special Quiz, and a team of football fanatics from Atomhawk and Sumo Newcastle who laced up their boots for One Special Game held in Gateshead.
