Sumo Group goes karting for GamesAid

People from Sumo took to the track last month as part of GamesAid’s annual Go Karting Championship, which raised over £11,000 for the charity.

This annual event brings the games industry together as they test their mettle, need for speed and kart racing skills and Team Sumo were proud to get to the final held at Wilton Mill last month.

Two teams from Sumo – one made up of members from Sumo Group’s Learning and Development and Marketing teams, The Chinese Room, Sumo Leamington, and the other representing Red Kite Games - progressed to the final of the 2023 competition and were joined by Chris Groves – Senior Community Manager for Sumo Leamington’s debut title, Stampede: Racing Royale. Chris was on hand to provide driving tips, speak to racers about their experience and catch up with GamesAid about the fantastic work they do to support charities working with disadvantaged and disabled children and young people.

Polly Ord, Charity Partnerships Manager at Sumo Group, said: “Events like this are a great opportunity for our teams to get involved in fundraising in fun, exciting and unique ways. Each year, everyone at Sumo has the opportunity to use one of their Learning days to volunteer, or fundraise for charities close to their hearts, and days like this are the perfect way to spend them!

“Congratulations to GamesAid for their biggest karting event yet, and to Team Sumo who did us proud on the track.”
